Stephen Jefferies (published 1982)
Biography
Jefferies discusses individuality in dance versus doing what is asked of oneself. He also describes his natural approach to and feelings for the character roles he takes on, and connecting his comfort with each to levels of confidence.
Biographical note:
Jefferies was born in Germany in 1951. He danced with the Royal Ballet touring company in the 1970s. In 1976, he worked with the National Ballet of Canada, but returned to the Royal Ballet as a principal dancer. After retiring, Jefferies became Artistic Director of the Hong Kong Ballet in 1996.
